Meet The Staff

Katy Williams

Practice Manager

Katy originally started working at Barry & Boverton Vets in 2004 as practice administrator and has recently re-joined the team as practice manager following a break of five years during which she was a manager for Waitrose. When she isn’t in the practice, Katy can be found amongst the sheep on the farm she runs with her father. She has two cats, Bandit and Boo, and in her spare time is studying for a degree with the Open University.

Dr Nicola Rolph BVSc MRCVS

Clinical Director

Nicola graduated in 2015 from the University of Liverpool, initially working in mixed practice in Somerset before moving to South Wales in 2016. She has a particular interest in medicine cases and performing ultrasound scans and is currently completing her certificate in small animal medicine. She has a rescue dog called Mortimer who often gets brought out for demonstrations at the practice and a very fluffy cat called Mia. Outside of work, she spends most of her time walking, playing badminton, doing house renovations and baking cakes.

Dr Marco Anastasi MRCVS

After 15 years of practicing small animal medicine in his native country of Italy, Marco chose to move to the UK with his family. A passionate numismatist, he has written a book about Byzantine coins. When he isn’t working, Marco can be found taking long country walks with his family and his small dog, Judita.

Lisa Crowley, veterinary nurse at Barry & Boverton Vets

Lisa Crowley RVN

Lisa has been working at Barry & Boverton Vets since 2013. During this time she has completed her training and graduated in 2017, becoming a qualified veterinary nurse. Lisa loves working with animals and thoroughly enjoys her roles in the practice looking after our inpatients, assisting with procedures and conducting nurse clinics. When not at the practice, Lisa loves to travel and spends her free time exploring the outdoors with her horse, Muddy, and her family’s three recuse dogs named Shelly (Staffie), Bella (Collie crossbreed) and Luna (Frenchie). She also owns two rescue cats named Bilbo and Panda who she hand-reared after being found abandoned as a kittens.

Jessica Hall

Student Veterinary Nurse

Jessica joined our team in September 2015 as an animal nursing assistant, before deciding to start her studies as a student veterinary nurse. She also has a degree in medical science and humanities. At home she has a Border Collie named Buddy, a cat named Phoebus, a tortoise named Yellow, a pygmy hedgehog named Hedgie and five chickens. In her spare time she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Julie Gallivan

Receptionist

Julie has worked at both our Barry and Boverton branches since November 2016, after having previously worked as a team leader for 21 years with Tesco in Barry. Julie is a huge dog fan and owns a Staffordshire Bull Terrier called Oscar. She also enjoys travelling and loves history.

Andrea Williams

Receptionist

The main receptionist in Boverton is Andrea who joined the practice in 2012. She is the mother of two grown up girls and has had various jobs prior to joining the practice.

She served in the Armed Forces for six years as a registered general nurse; worked as dental nurse for many years after that and also trained and practiced as a pharmacy technician.

She loves animals, helping people and all things medical. So thought she would combine all three passions and work on reception in a veterinary practice.

She is the practice advocate for Healthy Pet Club and also the health and safety co-ordinator.

When not at work she loves being outdoors with her two dogs whom many of you may have met whilst visiting the practice, Cassie (Cavalier King Charles) and Geezer (Cairn Terrier).
